Authority to Permit
City traffic engineer is authorized to permit the movement of vehicles; loads or vehicles and loads combined which exceed the maximum height, width or length specified in this article. Such movements shall hereinafter be termed “oversize moves”. (Code 1950, § 525.1-6; Ord. No. 477-00, § 1, 6-19-00)
Issuance of Permits, Rules and Regulations
Permits for oversize moves shall be issued only if the city traffic engineer determines that the oversize moves can be moved over a proposed route with proper regard for the safety and welfare of all persons and property. The city traffic engineer is authorized to adopt rules and regulations to ensure the safe and efficient movement of oversize moves, and to ensure that all persons, agencies or corporations which might be affected by oversize moves, herein termed “affected agencies” are adequately notified of such impending oversize moves. Single Trip and Annual Permits
The city traffic engineer is authorized to issue Single Trip or Annual oversize moving permits for vehicles, loads or equipment which exceed the maximum height, width or length specified in this article. However, no permit shall be issued for a vehicle exceeding 16 feet in height, 17 feet in width, or 130 feet in length. The traffic engineer may place restrictions on any permit to protect safety and property or to eliminate undue interference with efficient traffic operation. (Code 1950, § 525.1-6(7); Ord.
