Wyoming Heavy Haul Trucking FAQ
Will I need permits to transport oversized cargo through Wyoming?
The driver of an oversized load needs to obtain a permit from the Ports of Entry in Wyoming. Superload carriers will also need special permits.
When you work with Titan for your trucking needs, our drivers will take care of all the permitting needs required to ship your load through Wyoming, as well as any other states the shipment will be transported through. That means no delays, no fines, and no hassle for our clients! That’s what makes Titan one of the best trucking companies to work with in Texas.
Delivering your shipment safely and on time is our top priority.
What's considered an oversized load in Wyoming?
In Wyoming, the legal dimensions for standard trucks and loads, including overhang, are 60′ long, 8’6″ wide, and 14′ high, with a gross weight ranging from 80,000 to 117,000.
Loads can exceed 80,000 gross pounds without a permit on interstate and state highways. However, the vehicle needs to be legal on all axle wheels. The driver also has to be licensed for the amount of the load’s gross weight.
Will I need an escort to transport my cargo through Wyoming?
Maybe. Oversize loads from 75 to 95 feet long, 12 ft. wide, and 14 ft. 6 inches high require one escort. Over 14 ft. wide and 16 feet tall must have two escort vehicles. Also, rear overhangs up to 20′ past the center of the last axle or dolly may require one escort.
Escort requirements are determined by the final size of your shipment. At a minimum, all oversize loads/vehicles must display “Oversize Load” on both front and rear.
If oversized loads are traveling on one of Wyoming’s two-lane highways, two pilot cars are required for lengths over 109′ and for any load that extends past the center lane at any time. Escorts for trucks traveling on interstate highways are at the discretion of the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Our team is committed to making the process hassle-free for our customers. Our drivers will make all the arrangements if pilot cars are needed for any of the locations your cargo will travel through, whether through the Rocky Mountain region, Canada, or all the way to Mexico.
How much does it cost to ship oversized loads in Wyoming?
You can generally expect to pay between $2.30 and $10 per mile. Many factors affect the cost of shipping goods, including:
- Load size
- Type of goods
- Mileage and designated routes
- Pick up and destination location
- Time of year and trucking demand
- Number and type of permits required
- Escort requirements

What kind of trailers do you have for handling heavy equipment?
Our specialty is transporting heavy construction, agriculture, oilfield goods, and other types of equipment throughout Wyoming and across the country. Our solutions, resources, and trucking equipment are tailored to the specific needs of each business.
For example, a common option is our flatbed trailer, with a maximum weight of 48,000 pounds.
For extremely heavy loads, we’ll typically utilize our removable gooseneck RGN trailer. The maximum weight of this trailer is over 150,000 pounds. This option is ideal for very heavy and large items that can’t get transported inside a trailer.
Whatever your shipment requires, our company has the equipment to handle all types of hauling jobs safely and professionally.
